Summary Current spell of monsoon rains has stopped in Karachi, but rainwater cannot be drained out.

Rainwater is still accumulated in Saddar Town, Mehmoodabad, DHA and various other low-lying areas of Karachi. All the educational institutions remained closed and public transport was also thin on the roads even on Wednesday.The old city areas were observed to be still submerged in rainwater. The areas include Kharadar, Bohra Pir, Garden, Saddar, Railway Colony, Mehmoodabad and Korangi.In some areas sewerage water mixed with rainwater has entered into the underground water tanks due to which the residents are facing shortage of clean drinking water.Rainwater that has entered the shops of the old city areas has incurred substantial financial loss on the traders.According to details, almost 300 electricity feeders tripped due to the massive rainwater. 200 feeders were later restored.Met Department has predicted light rain in the next 24 hours. The heaviest rain in the last 24 hours was recorded 69 millimeters at Faisal Base and Masroor Base, whereas 49mm in Saddar, 47mm in Landhi, 46mm in Nazimabad, 41mm in North Nazimabad and 12mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
