Summary Allama Iqbal, the national poet, passed the matriculation exam from the school in 1898.
The building of Government High School Gandum Mandi is in dilapidated condition.A room and wall of the school have collapsed due to recent monsoon rains. No attention was paid to the 147-year-old building.Residents of the area said that Sialkot would be deprived of a monument of the national hero if it was not repaired.It is worth mentioning that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also declared this school a national asset and announced to build Iqbal Gallery after renovation of the building.
