Summary Karachi city administration has established an emergency cell to cope with the torrential rains.
In the wake of warnings of a tropical cyclone, the cell will monitor the weather round-the-clock and will maintain coordination between various task forces.According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, due to the high waves in the sea, heavy down pour is likely in the coastal areas of the country.A high level meeting was held in Karachi to form plans to cope with the expected torrential rain.The representatives of the Karachi city administration, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Rangers, Police, the Defence Housing Authority, the Karachi Port Trust and Port Qasim Authority attended the meeting. The participants decided that 300 heavy machines should be ready to deal with an untoward situation.Relief camps have also been established in coastal areas and it was decided that people would be evacuated in case of flood in streams.
