Summary A panchayat has declared a five year old girl, nephew of a man who had love marriage, as vani.
In Thatta Sadiqabad, area of the Jahanian city, Sajjad Ali had love marriage with Naseem Bibi. The father of Naseem Bibi was not happy and called the panchayat.The members of the panchayat, Dr Munir, Shabbir Ahmed and Muhammad Aslam, declared the nephew of Sajjad Ali, five year old Rabia, as ‘vani’ and forcefully married her to the brother of Naseem Bibi, 22 year old Abid.The local police arrested one of the panchayat members, Muhammad Aslam, but did not include the other members in the investigation.The affected family has demanded justice from the authorities.
