The Nishtar Hospital board of management cancelled the free CT scan facility for patients, citing the hike in component prices and overuse of the machine.According to Nishtar Hospital Multan’s Medical Superintendent Dr Zafar Ali, the CT scan machine has been used excessively. On average 130 patients have been scanned on a daily basis.Now the hospitalised patients have to pay Rs 500 while the out-patients are charged between Rs 2,500 and 4,500 for the scan.Private hospitals are charging from Rs 5,000 to 7,000 for a CT scan. Patients from low-income groups have been severely affected by the cancellation of the facility.
