Summary A Martyrs Day is being observed for those who lost their lives for the creation of Hazara province.
On April 12 2010, seven people were killed and hundreds were injured when police opened fire on a protest rally, which was against the proposed name Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the North West Frontier Province. The rally also called for the creation of the Hazara province. A judicial commission had been formed to probe the matter. A report was compiled and submitted to the provincial government. Even after one year, no action has been taken against the people who were involved in the killings. Senate standing committee on human rights gave their recommendation on action against those responsible but it was never implemented.
