Summary People are aggravated due to the overbilling of electricity despite the 10 hour load shedding.
According to Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) the electricity shortfall in the Multan region is now up to 575 Megawatts. As a result the load shedding hours in the urban areas is up to 10-12 hours where as in the rural areas electricity load shedding is up to 16 hours. Despite the long load shedding hours, the consumers are being over charged for electricity which has worsened their financial situation. According to MEPCO, those officials who are over charging will face consequences for their actions. They also said that MEPCO is helpless due to the electricity shortfall and the load shedding will continue.
