Summary Prisoners protest against unjust treatment by the new warden.
After electricity, water and gas supply was cut prisoners in Hyderabad central jail protested against the appointment of the new warden. The situation worsened Tuesday morning when the warden did not allow at least 300 prisoners to go to their court hearings and the prisoners were not even given breakfast.Ever since the appointment of Warden Bashir Jaan Sarhindi, tension between the prisoners and the warden has increased. The prisoners said that the conduct of the new warden is unjust and in protest the prisoners did not let the guards do their daily count and the jail remained open all night. According to sources, the prisoners burnt wooden doors and window frames to cook food while some of the prisoners climbed on the roof of the barracks in protest. In view of a possible operation, the prisoners have planned a front inside the jail.
