Summary Interior ministry has suggested giving citizenship to more than three million Bengalis and Beharis.
In this regard, session of National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Interior would be held tomorrow.The Interior Ministry would give briefing to the Bengalis and Beharis dwelling in Karachi and its surroundings.Before this, the Interior Ministry has sent a report to the aforesaid committee to review the issue from every point of view.The issue has become a stumbling block for restoration of peace as Bengalis and Beharis term them Pakistanis but state law regards them foreigners.On the other hand they have not sufficient resources to settle back in Bangladesh. This confusion have become a dilemma for them.After pondering over this issue, the government has taken a decision in this direction with the hope that this issue would serve the cause of peace and tranquility in the country.
