The Industrial Relations Bill‚ 2012 was unanimously passed in the Senate with amendments on Wednesday.The bill was moved by Mian Raza Rabbani.The bill provides to consolidate and rationalize the law relating to formation of trade unions‚ and improvement of relations between employers and workmen in the Islamabad Capital Territory and trans-provincial establishments and industry.Speaking on the occasion‚ Mian Raza Rabbani thanked all the members for supporting the bill and said their unconditional support is a proof of their labour friendship attitude.Leader of the House Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said PPP has always worked for the uplift and welfare of the labours and other deprived segments of the society. He said the bill will improve the relations between the employers and employees.Opposition Leader in Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri said the bill will provide protection to the labours and workers of different organizations and they will work more effectively.Babar Awan said the trade and students unions are the nurseries of the national politics but unfortunately in past these were damaged in different ways. He said the bill will strengthen trade unions that will contribute for the development of the country.Prof. Khurshid Ahmad congratulated Raza Rabbani for this historic development and said that the bill has clearly defined the rights of the workers along with their duties.Those who spoke on the occasion in support of the bill include Haji Muhammad Adeel‚ Afrasiab Khattak‚ Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi‚ Abdul Haseeb Khan‚ Abdul Rahim Mandokhel‚ Khalid Soomro‚ Saleem Saifullah Khan‚ Muhammad Ismail Buledi‚ Kalsoom Parveen and Zafar Ali Shah.
