Violent protest in Korangi over power cuts

Hundreds of residents of fishermen colony, Ibrahim Haidri, held a demonstration on Korangi Road and blocked the road by placing hurdles on the road.The police reached the spot after a sit-in for several hours. Protestors started pelting stones at KESC office after reaching at Qayyumabad Chorangi area.Polices resorted aerial firing to disperse the protestors and charged demonstrators threw stone on Police and traffic in retaliation due to which traffic were blocked from both the sides.Protestors were of the view that despite of payment of electricity bills, KESC has suspended supply of electricity for more than one thousand houses due to which people woes are multiplying.On the other hand, KESC officials said that there are more than 850 consumers which are defaulters of Rs 820 million and their supply will not be restored till the full payment of the bills
