A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard a petition regarding disqualification of lawmakers holding dual nationality.Syed Mahmood Akhtar filed a writ petition under Article 184’s Sub Section 3, citing media reports that more than 35 legislators including Rehman Malik, Ch Zahid Iqbal and Ch Iftikhar Nazir were holding dual nationality. The petitioner requested the court to ask the Election Commission of Pakistan to submit complete record of these lawmakers and declare them disqualify.The apex court accepted the plea for hearing and issued notices to the parties’ concerned for March 12.
