Summary Waheeda Shah sought apology from the court but the Supreme Court rejected her plea.
A three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard a suo moto notice against PPP candidate Waheeda Shah.Waheeda had slapped presiding officer and others at a polling station in Tando Muhammad Khan during the polling for by-elections on PS-53.Waheeda Shah sought apology terming the incident an unintentional and hoped that the court would do justice.The CJP rejected the plea and observed that slapping of an election official is even more serious issue than killing of a youth by Rangers in Karachi. The apex court also observed that such incidents cannot be tolerated.The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 12.
