Summary Lahore authorities have initiated court proceedings against digital traffic challan defaulters, with nearly 800,000 pending challans and seized documents reported across the city.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Legal proceedings have begun against motorists who have failed to pay digital traffic challans in Lahore, with authorities preparing to issue court summons to citizens who do not clear their fines within 10 days.
According to officials, motorists who fail to pay their outstanding challans despite receiving notices will face legal action. Traffic wardens have been deployed at courts across Lahore to assist judicial authorities and facilitate the recovery of unpaid traffic fines.
Officials said traffic fines were doubled if payments were not made within 10 days, after which the outstanding challans were transferred to the courts for further proceedings.
The increase in penalties has reportedly discouraged several motorists from retrieving their seized documents from the courts.
The number of pending digital challans and documents seized over non-payment has approached 800,000, highlighting the scale of the outstanding traffic violations in the provincial capital.
Officials said some motorists had opted to obtain duplicate identity cards and driving licences instead of paying the increased fines and recovering their original documents.
Authorities have urged motorists to clear their outstanding challans and collect their seized documents through the prescribed legal procedure.
The latest move aims to improve recovery of unpaid traffic fines and ensure compliance with digital traffic enforcement regulations in Lahore.
