Summary Shahbaz Sharif said that dengue would be dealt in an effective manner in future.

While addressing the augural ceremony of3-day International Conference,Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said thatPunjab government saved lives of the people by utilizing all departmental resources in a very organized manner to control the dengue last year and allayed their fear and panic.The conference was held in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) and Punjab government on the topic of dengue and its control at a local hotel, here today. Medical experts of WHO, Sri Lanka, Thailand and other countries attended the conference. shahbaz said that provincial government is fully prepared to deal with the possible outbreak of dengue.He said that Punjab government also fully benefited from the experience and expertise of Sri Lanka for coping with dengue so that this disease could be dealt with properly in future.He said that all preparations of Punjab government are complete this year and any possible threat of dengue would be metin an organized manner and this disease would be rooted out completely.He said that saving lives of the people is our top priority and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard.Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that last year the dengue virus was a calamity and provincial government had no experience to cope with this virus. Experts were of the opinion that 25 thousand deaths could be occurred due to dengue virus but thousands of human lives were saved due to timely steps and provision of medical facilities by the government and full cooperation of the people.He said that provincial government faced dengue courageously by benefiting from the experiences and consultations of doctors and medical experts of Sri Lanka and Indonesia and lives of the people were saved by providing them timely treatment facilities.He expressed his determination that in future, fatal disease like dengue would be dealt in an effective manner. He said that all departments including health department are working jointly for controlling the possible outbreak of dengue.He said that the governmental steps are reviewed on weekly basis so that there should be no negligence in the mission of saving the lives of the masses. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has sent abroad doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other concerned people on its own resources for getting training to deal with dengue and these master trainers are imparting training to other people for saving from dengue.Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif told that Punjab government is launching a project of disposing of the solid waste on scientific lines in Lahore in the first phase of a comprehensive project of cleanliness of the cities. He said that if our environment would be clean, we would get rid of various diseases including dengue. He asked the people to keep their streets, mohallahs and bazaars neat and clean, destroy old tyres and not let the water accumulate anywhere.He said that we will fight war against dengue collectively and no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He stressed upon the delegates of the conference to formulate such proposals as will help in eradicating this disease completely.Later, talking to media men, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that nation is also facing the plundering of resources and “dengue” of bad governance but the results of elections will eliminate all such “dengues”.Provincial Secretary Health Arif Nadeem, representatives of WHO Dr. H. Gezairy and Dr. G. Sabatinelli also spoke on the occasion.
