Summary SHC orders removal of illegal constructions from park land in Karachi’s Scheme 33, directs restoration of the park and seeks a compliance report by January 20.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the removal of encroachments and illegal constructions from a park in Karachi’s Scheme 33 and directed authorities to restore the land to its original condition.
The court issued the directives while hearing a petition against the occupation of park land and construction of buildings in Scheme 33, Sector 15-A.
In its order, the court directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to assist the relevant authorities in removing the encroachments and restoring the park. It also sought a compliance report from the Deputy Commissioner East and revenue officials by January 20.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Usman Farooq, argued that the illegal constructions posed a threat to human lives. He also pointed out that K-Electric installations were present at the site.
Advocate Usman Farooq informed the court that K-Electric had also written a letter warning of the risks posed by the construction work in the area.
The petition sought the immediate demolition of illegal constructions in Scheme 33, Sector 15-A, and requested that the builder be restrained from carrying out further construction and booking units in the building.
