The R-4 grouping, comprising Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, emerged in March and has focused on regional security and mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
The meetings will be followed by discussions with the European E-3 countries — the UK, France and Germany — with Italy also participating. The E-3 grouping was established more than two decades ago to coordinate diplomatic efforts concerning Iran’s nuclear programme.
The Foreign Office described the gathering as the first meeting involving all seven countries in this format.
The discussions are expected to cover key regional developments and explore coordinated diplomatic responses aimed at promoting peace and stability. Pakistan’s participation, the FO said, reflects its commitment to constructive diplomacy, regional cooperation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
