Summary Sanaullah said KP government had not been cooperating with the federal government over the province’s terrorism situation

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Senator Rana Sanaullah has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is ready to hold talks with all political parties on counterterrorism efforts.

Speaking during a Senate session on Tuesday, Rana Sanaullah invited political parties to meet the prime minister and discuss ways to address the country’s security challenges.

He said the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had not been cooperating with the federal government over the province’s terrorism situation, while the Balochistan government was extending full cooperation to the Centre.

“The prime minister is ready to sit with all political parties to discuss this issue,” Rana Sanaullah said, reiterating that the offer of dialogue remained open.

He also urged Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai to meet the prime minister, saying he had personally approached him and asked him to set aside his differences and engage in talks.

Rana Sanaullah said Achakzai had assumed the office of opposition leader after his appointment was signed by the National Assembly speaker, but had been reluctant to visit the speaker’s chamber.

The adviser added that opposition representatives did not attend meetings of the apex committee, where security matters were discussed openly. He stressed that the country was confronting terrorism and referred to the recent martyrdom of an army major.

He further alleged that some participants used meetings to direct abusive language at state institutions and build narratives against them. He said restrictions on meetings would be imposed in accordance with applicable rules and laws.

Referring to the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Rana Sanaullah said he was seeking release from prison through different channels, including the courts and US President Donald Trump.
