ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A high-level meeting has been summoned at the Prime Minister’s House for tomorrow to consider options for imposing an emergency or governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, the meeting will review the prevailing situation in the province, public safety and law and order. Various constitutional options, including the imposition of an emergency and governor’s rule, are expected to be discussed.
Sources said a proposal to impose an emergency in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including areas of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), was also under consideration. The proposed measures are aimed at improving public safety and maintaining law and order in the affected areas.
The meeting is also expected to review reports received from national security institutions. Following an assessment of the provincial situation, proposals concerning the exercise of certain powers by the federal government may also be examined.
According to sources, relevant constitutional provisions, including Articles 232, 233 and 234 of the Constitution of Pakistan, will be reviewed before possible measures and key decisions are considered for approval.
