KARACHI (Dunya News) – The term of the judicial commission formed by the Sindh government to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into the murder of Mir Raza Ali has expired, while proceedings have been adjourned until October 2.
The commission, headed by Justice Umar Sial, issued a written order stating that its term expired a day earlier. The commission had requested the Sindh government to extend its tenure until October 15.
According to the written order, the Sindh government’s focal person informed the commission that the summary seeking an extension had been approved by the Chief Minister, who subsequently forwarded it to the Sindh Cabinet for a decision.
The order stated that a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet is expected on October 1. Therefore, it was deemed appropriate to adjourn the commission’s proceedings until October 2.
The commission said that if the Sindh Cabinet does not approve the extension, no further witnesses will be summoned. In that case, the commission will prepare and submit its report at the earliest based on the statements recorded so far.
The order further stated that if the commission’s term is extended, fresh notices will be issued to witnesses, while questionnaires will also be sent to three senior police officers.
