Summary Ishaq Dar expressed concern over violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Palestinian self-determination and the Hashemite Custodianship in Jerusalem.
NEW YORK (Dunya News) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has expressed concern over continued violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Occupied East Jerusalem.
Dar made the remarks while participating in a joint Arab League-Group of 4 Islamic Countries ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in New York.
The meeting was convened by Jordan as a follow-up to the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem held in Amman on August 5, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson.
The deputy prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
On the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session in New York, Dar also held a cordial exchange with Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and regional developments and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Jordan relations.
