Summary Pakistan says its forces downed eight drones launched from Afghanistan and thwarted militant infiltration in Kurram, amid renewed border clashes with Afghan Taliban forces.
KOHAT (Dunya News) – Pakistan armed forces have neutralized eight rudimentary suicide drones launched from Afghanistan.
The four drones were brought down approximately seven kilometres from Kohat City in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while another four were shot down near Torkham border on Wednesday.
The drones were launched from Afghanistan by the Afghan Taliban regime.
Sources said Pakistan Armed Forces’ air defence systems remain vigilant around the clock against threats emanating from Afghanistan, according to the information provided.
Earlier, Pakistan’s security forces have foiled an attempted infiltration by Fitna al-Khawarij from Afghanistan into the Kurram sector and responded to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces on Pakistani border posts, according to security sources.
The sources said the infiltration attempt was launched from Afghan Taliban positions in Nangarhar and Paktia provinces. Pakistani troops deployed along the border successfully thwarted the attempt and prevented the militants from crossing into Pakistani territory.

Following the failure of the infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban forces opened fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector using heavy weapons, mortars and other arms, the sources said.
Pakistan’s security forces responded with small and heavy weapons, including artillery, targeting several Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive positions.
According to the security sources, the Pakistani response effectively silenced the positions from which the firing was being carried out. Several Afghan Taliban personnel subsequently abandoned their posts and fled following the intense retaliatory action.
The security sources said Pakistani forces maintained complete control over the border areas and remained on high alert to respond to any further attempt at infiltration or aggression.
The latest incident comes amid heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border following a series of security operations against terrorist groups operating in the region.
