Heavy rain floods low-lying areas in Islamabad, Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Heavy rain lashed Islamabad and Rawalpindi after clouds entered various parts of the country, inundating low-lying areas and causing the water level in Nullah Lai to rise.

At Katarian, the water level in Nullah Lai reached 16 feet, while it rose to 10 feet at the Gawalmandi point. Underpasses in G-6 were filled with rainwater, while rainwater also entered homes in several areas.

Electricity supply was also affected in several parts of the twin cities due to the rainfall. A rain emergency was declared in Rawalpindi, while heavy machinery was deployed to drain water from low-lying areas.

Meanwhile, heavy rain was also reported in Kundian, resulting in water accumulation in low-lying areas.

The Meteorological Department has forecast more rain in various parts of the country today and tomorrow.

A risk of landslides has also been forecast in Murree, Galiyat and other hilly areas, prompting authorities to advise citizens and travelers to exercise caution.
