Summary Opposition parties retain September 27 protest and long march plans, vow legal action and strengthen the Grand Opposition Alliance.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The opposition has decided to maintain its plan for a protest and long march on September 27, while also agreeing to invite all opposition parties to participate.
A joint parliamentary opposition meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, with Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Shahid Khattak, Asad Qaiser, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Salman Akram Raja among others in attendance.
The meeting discussed the overall political situation, the health of PTI founder Imran Khan, implementation of Supreme Court orders and the opposition's future political strategy.
Opposition leaders expressed deep concern over Imran Khan's health and said no compromise would be accepted regarding his health or treatment.
According to the meeting's declaration, the opposition accused the government of staging a “drama” over Imran's health and expressed serious concern over the alleged failure to implement Supreme Court orders. The opposition claimed that the government had committed contempt of court by failing to comply with the judicial directives.
The joint parliamentary party decided to approach the Supreme Court on Saturday over the alleged contempt of court and retained its decision to hold a PTI-led protest on September 27.

The opposition also agreed to invite all opposition parties to participate in the protest and long march.
The declaration said the opposition would intensify its public outreach campaign across Punjab and other parts of the country and continue its joint struggle to protect the Constitution, democracy and rule of law.
Opposition parties further agreed to make major political and parliamentary decisions through mutual consultation and coordination.
The meeting strongly endorsed the formation of a Grand Opposition Alliance and agreed to make it operational. It also welcomed the inclusion of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other opposition parties in the alliance.
The opposition said the alliance would further strengthen its voice in Parliament and among the public.
