He also said the MQMhas been working for women emancipation against all odds.He recalled a number of incidents involving subjugation of women, including Dr Shazia case in Balochistan, where the MQM stepped in to the rescue of the women.He said the MQM would promote the culture of woman rights in the country so that there is no discrimination against them in any field. He said the part would bring about a change in society so that women are freed and emancipated in literal sense of the word.Altaf said the MQM women workers lost their loved ones in the political struggle of the party. He said that today it has become a fashion to raise slogan of change at political rallies. He said if anyone wants to see change, one needs to see the MQM women rally which is the largest in the country. The MQM chief says it is the time to wake up as parliaments of foreign countries are taking up resolutions on Balochistan issues. He said the people of Balochistan need to be given due rights.Altaf also spoke of the missing persons issue, saying he is fully with the families of the missing persons.MQMchief Altaf Hussain said that mother, sisters and daughters of MQM are sufficient for defeating political rivals.I had said that today’s rally would be biggest rally in the world, this mammoth rally turned my claim true, Altaf said. This huge rally has registered new history of rallies in Pakistan, he said.Women of all religions, nationality and segment of society are present in this rally, he said. He applauded the MQM women worker for being firm in every situation and circumstances. I salute the women who delivered courageous youth, he said.He said that when taking MQM’s name was impossible, women came forward and took up the movement.Pakistan will be stronger with empowerment of women, he said.Altaf urged all his bachelor partymen to refuse dowry for their marriages and marriages in their families to promote a healthy tradition. He also demanded that women should be given the right to see the life partnet-to-be before the wedding. He said those who throw acid on women should be handed capital punishment, while women must be ensured right in inheritance.The MQM chief said all the women and children detained in petty cases should be given remissions and freed.The rally formally started with a tableau, while more and more rallies of party women from different ares joined the main gathering at Mazar-e-Quaid ground.The closing of the rally was marked by songs from Shazia Khusk in concert style. Many MQM stalwarts including Haider Abbas Rizvi danced along with others on the stage to make the rally all the more enchanting.Farooq Sattar in his welcome address said that the MQM has given the women a platform to stand shoulder to shoulder with men.Starting address to the gathering via video link from London, Altaf recited verses from the holy Quran.Earlier, in-charge of Women Wing of Muttahid Quami Movement instructed that rallies bringing thousand of MQM women workers on the roads should not disrupt the traffic flow and daily lives of the road users and only those routes should be used which would not cause any problems to them.The rallies should not use routes that have hospitals, mosques and other places of worship nearby and special care should be taken to ensure that ambulances do not get stalled on the roads.It was also asked of the participants that they should keep their voices lower while chanting slogans.The Incharge Women wing also said that the event of 19th Feb would be a peaceful gathering and discipline would be maintained at all times and it would indeed be a successful and exemplary rally.
