ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan and Canada on Monday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, on expanding cooperation across key sectors.
The two foreign ministers reviewed recent developments in bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues. They also reiterated their commitment to further strengthening their mutually beneficial partnership and agreed to expand cooperation in priority areas.

Earlier, delegation-level talks were held between the two sides, during which they agreed to further enhance bilateral relations.
Welcoming Anita Anand to Islamabad, Dar said the two leaders had previously met in Switzerland and that Pakistan and Canada had maintained regular engagement. He said Pakistan believes in proactive diplomacy and that both countries have significant potential to further strengthen bilateral ties.
Dar added that the Pakistani community in Canada remains a valuable asset in bilateral relations and expressed confidence that Anand's visit would provide fresh momentum to cooperation between the two countries.
Anita Anand thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and said Canada remains committed to further enhancing relations with Pakistan. She stressed the need for both countries to work more closely together and highlighted the strong contribution of the more than 300,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin.

She said Pakistan and Canada have the potential to play a positive role in the global economy and noted that there are broad opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, industry and other sectors. She also expressed hope for productive discussions on advancing bilateral cooperation during her visit.
Earlier, Anand arrived in Islamabad on an official visit at the invitation of Ishaq Dar and was received at the Foreign Office, where the deputy prime minister introduced her to senior officials. She is also scheduled to meet Pakistan's top leadership during her visit, with discussions covering the full spectrum of Pakistan-Canada relations.
