Provincial Minister Ch Abdul Ghafoor has requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto notice of handing over an 11-year-old girl to her French mother by the Lahore High Court.Earlier, Lahore High Court ruled to hande over Amina, 11, to her French mother. Amina was born in France but two years after her birth, her father, Abdul Razzak, divorced her wife and took Amina to Pakistan.Amina’s mother filed a case in a French court and got the ruling in her favour. But as the girl was in Pakistan, she could not get her custody.The woman then filed a case in a Sessions Court in Mandi Bahuddin. The court upheld the decision of the French court. But Abdul Razzak went into hiding along with the girl.The French lady then moved to Lahore High Court in order to win her daugther’s custody.Police recovered the girl and brought her to the Lahore court. The girl refused to go with her mother and cried to stay with her father.Justice Manzoor Malik said that the court would issue a verdict in line with the law irrespective of the girl’s emotions.The LHC also upheld the previous decisions and order the girl to be handed over to her mother.The girl said that her father suffered a heart attack and was under treatment.
