Summary Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal questions repeated bail extensions for MPA Saqib Chadhar, alleging preferential treatment in her cyber harassment case.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has questioned the legal process after a Lahore sessions court once again extended the interim pre-arrest bail of Punjab MPA Saqib Chadhar and his wife.
During Thursday's hearing, the court extended the couple's interim bail until July 13 and directed them to join the investigation. It also sought a progress report from the prosecution at the next hearing.
Following the proceedings, Momina Iqbal shared an Instagram Story, without naming anyone directly, saying she had once believed influence was limited to Bhowana, but now felt that the full advantage of being an MPA was being used.
The actress alleged that her representatives had been repeatedly harassed, followed, and subjected to various forms of pressure.
She also questioned whether ordinary citizens' cases receive the same treatment or whether repeated adjournments are reserved only for influential individuals.
The case first came to light in May, when Momina Iqbal claimed she had been subjected to prolonged online harassment, cyberbullying, and death threats by a provincial lawmaker.
She later named Saqib Chadhar in her complaint, alleging that he threatened her and her fiancé after she rejected his marriage proposal. She also claimed that her sister received threatening messages.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had warned that any attempt to use political influence or intimidate individuals in the case would not be tolerated.
It is worth noting that on June 4, Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered a case against Saqib Chadhar under cybercrime and other relevant provisions. He was granted interim pre-arrest bail on June 5, which has since been extended several times.
