Summary Pakistan Railways has cancelled the tenders to purchase 150 new engines from four campanies.
According to sources, four renowned companied have submitted tenders but the tenders were canceled by Pakistan Railways after finding their documents incomplete.The companies whose tenders were cancelled included two from China and two from US.Pakistan Railways have issued tenders to purchase 150 locomotives having capacity to pull 2,600 tons of luggage and have capability to travel with 80 kilometre per hour. The sources also revealed that the cost of each locomotive was around three million dollar.
