Summary Though reports of his resignation have been around, Saranjam Khan has finally quit PML-N.
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has suffered yet another setback as party’s founding secretary-general and former senator Saranjam Khan finally quit the party for good on Wednesday.In the past, party stalwarts kept disgruntled Saranjam from fully dissociating himself from the party. He had party posts and basic membership of the PML-N.Earlier, Saranjam Khan had resigned as the party’s vice-president and member of the central executive committee on December 28, 2011.Before this, in July 2011, he had resigned from the basic membership when Nawaz Sharif announced names of the presidents and general-secretaries for the 24 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Saranjam, an influential feudal from Mardan, had alleged that his proposals were ignored while finalising the list of, which forced him to take the extreme step.Saranjam joined hands with Nawaz soon after 1988 general elections and became the secretary general of PML-N in early 90’s. During the period, he worked for the party in various capacities and every level. He also remained senator from 1991 to 1999.
