Summary Young doctors have stopped working in OPDs of Lahore hospitals against suspension of senior doctors.
The Young Doctors Association is protesting against the suspension of senior doctors regarding spurious medicine issues at Punjab Institute of Cardiology PIC.The young doctors are protesting against the provincial government for allegedly victimising senior doctors of PIC by removing them from their positions without proving charges against them after death from fatal reaction to medicines among heart patients.The YDA has also closed down the indoor facility at Punjab Institute of Cardiology in protest against the Punjab government.Meanwhile, 10 scheduled heart operations in PIC have been postponed and only emergency cases have been under treatment.Due to the strike, 100 cases of Angiography, Angioplasty and 50 cases of Echocardiography had to be postponed.According to young doctors, the Punjab government was violation the Supreme Court orders and victimizing the senior doctors. They have demanded urgent restoration of the suspended doctors.The patients and their families are facing problems due to the doctors’ strike.
