GILGIT (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) have agreed to form a government in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), PPP sources familiar with the development revealed to Dunya News here on Saturday.

The sources said the parties’ leaders held a detailed consultations with the local leadership and organisations of PPP and PML-N in the region before the agreement.

According to PPP sources, both parties have expressed their determination to move forward together with mutual trust and consensus and have also agreed on a common formula for government formation.

Sources said that under the proposed formula, the post of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan will go to PPP while the PML-N will have the post of governor.

In this formula, it has been decided that the post of Leader of the Opposition in GB Assembly will also be held by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the post of Deputy Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will also be given to the Muslim League (N).

PPP sources added that this 'public mandate formula' agreed upon between the two parties is a manifestation of mutual consultation, political harmony and respect for the public mandate, which aims to ensure political stability and effective governance in Gilgit-Baltistan.
