LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has called for dialogue to normalize the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

An important meeting was held in Lahore under the chairmanship of PML-N president, in which the current political and administrative situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) was reviewed in detail.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of PML-N AJK and the party’s central leadership.

Addressing the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said that the PML-N has always maintained a clear and firm stance on the Kashmir issue, adding that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be granted the right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Expressing concern over the prevailing political situation in AJK, he said that under the Interim Constitution Act of 1974, the people of Kashmir enjoy full civil liberties, and all available resources must be utilized for their welfare.

He stressed that any struggle for public rights should remain within the constitutional framework.

He further stated that the people of Kashmir have rendered immense sacrifices for Pakistan, and Pakistan has always supported their struggle as its own cause.

The PML-N president appealed to the people of Kashmir to maintain their ideological and emotional ties with Pakistan, remain peaceful, end sit-ins, and adopt the path of meaningful dialogue.

He urged them to work with the AJK government and all political parties to restore peace in the region.

He also expressed hope that the people of Kashmir would play a positive role in advancing the upcoming electoral process.
