A three-member bench of the Supreme Court has been hearing the suo moto notice of corruption in Pakistan Railways.The apex court expressed dissatisfaction over the railway authorities’ interim report regarding recovery of grabbed railway land.The chief justice, in his remarks, said two Marla houses are being demolished in the name of the Supreme Court. It has become a culture that law is only implemented on the poor but big fish are not even touched, he said, adding that it is known to the court that people have set up petrol pumps on railway land.The chief justice said that we ordered an independent audit of the Railways but the authorities have wasted two months in internal audit.Counsel for Pakistan Railways Rai Nawaz Kharal said that railway has recovered 87 acres grabbed land fron the occupiers in 14 districts and 1568 acres land is occupied by the Defence Authority.The court adjourned the hearing of the case till February 27 while issuing notices to Defence, Interior and Railways secretaries.
