Summary Ishaq Dar said Pakistan had agreed on a five-point agenda aimed at promoting peace in the region.

NEW YORK (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that true diplomacy means maintaining strong relations with both the United States and China.

A dinner was hosted in New York by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad in honor of ambassadors from Arab, Islamic, and European countries, where Ishaq Dar attended as the chief guest.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan had agreed on a five-point agenda aimed at promoting peace in the region. He added that China had publicly endorsed Pakistan’s policy.

Dar further said that the friendship between Pakistan and China was everlasting and emphasized that Pakistan should maintain good relations with all major powers.

The deputy prime minister is also scheduled to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington today. The meeting will focus on the situation in the Middle East, particularly Palestine, as well as diplomatic efforts for regional peace and stability.

The foreign minister also met António Guterres, where discussions covered reforms in the UN Security Council, the issue of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and the situations in Afghanistan and Palestine.

On the occasion, António Guterres praised Pakistan’s active role in promoting global peace and security.
