LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out 58 intelligence-driven operations in multiple cities across Punjab amid fears of terrorism, resulting in the arrest of 13 terrorists.
According to a CTD spokesperson, operations were conducted in Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Jhang, Chiniot, and Mianwali.
In Lahore, a dangerous terrorist linked to “Fitna al-Khawarij”, identified as Mukhtar, was apprehended.
Authorities recovered explosives, including 4 IEDs, 8 detonators, 15 feet of safety fuse wire, prohibited stickers, literature, and cash.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmed, Younus, Feroz Khan, Wali, Awais, Farman, Momin, Adnan, Raja Faisal, Raza Khan, Ghulam Shabbir, Rao Sajid, and Mukhtar Shah. Officials revealed that the suspects were planning attacks on law enforcement offices.
The spokesperson added that during 1,487 combing operations this week, 168 suspects were detained, and 53,335 people were questioned.
CTD reiterated its commitment to a secure Punjab and its resolve to eliminate the threat of terrorism.
