KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday announced plan to establish Pakistan’s first port through a public-private partnership model, while addressing the inauguration ceremony of Shahrah-e-Bhutto in Karachi.

Speaking at the event, the PPP chairman invited political opponents to visit the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), saying people from across Pakistan travel to Karachi for medical treatment.

He said the NICVD was providing free treatment according to international standards and highlighted the PPP government’s development initiatives across Sindh.

Bilawal said he felt personally proud inaugurating projects in Karachi, the city where he was born.

The PPP chairman claimed that the scale of development carried out since 2008 was unprecedented in Karachi’s history.

He said major projects including Pakistan Steel Mills, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and the Lyari Expressway were gifts from the PPP to the people.

Bilawal said Karachi had become Pakistan’s healthcare hub after the 18th Constitutional Amendment, adding that chest pain units had been established in every district of the city to ensure access to world-class treatment.

He stated that he entered politics to complete the unfinished mission of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and said the completion of Shahrah-e-Bhutto was a matter of pride for every PPP worker.

According to him, the project was completed under Benazir Bhutto’s vision of public-private partnership, similar to the Thar coal project.

Referring to the country’s economic challenges, Bilawal said rising regional tensions and global conflicts were increasing financial burdens on ordinary people worldwide.

He stressed that peace was essential for economic stability and praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

The PPP chairman said the Sindh government was providing relief through farmer cards, subsidies for motorcyclists, and support packages for fishermen despite limited resources.

He added that large-scale projects and investment opportunities were necessary to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
