LAHORE (Dunya News) - Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government would provide free land to people who do not own property.
Addressing a ceremony for distribution of residential flats to labourers in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz congratulated workers who received housing units.
She said owning a home is a great blessing and acknowledged that constructing houses has become difficult due to inflation and economic challenges.
The chief minister stated that each residential flat was built at a cost of Rs3.5 million and is being provided free of charge to deserving labourers.
Maryam Nawaz said 720 residential flats are being distributed in the first phase, while construction of 500 houses in Taxila is nearing completion.
She added that 100,000 houses have already been completed under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme.
The Punjab chief minister further said free land would also be provided to people without property, while ration cards have been issued to 1.5 million workers.
She said providing housing facilities to poor and middle-class families remains a priority of the provincial government.
Maryam Nawaz added that the Suthra Punjab Programme is being presented as a model internationally and its scope has now been expanded across the province.
She also announced that she would visit Azerbaijan later this week.
