Summary Bilawal said May 12 incident were not just a tragedy but also became a symbol of the people’s unwavering resolve and democratic struggle
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday paid tribute to the martyrs of the May 12, 2007 tragedy, saying innocent lives in Karachi were “sacrificed to hatred and violence.”
In his message on the anniversary of the incident, Bilawal said the sacrifices of the victims remain a painful yet lasting reminder of the cost paid for democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
He said the events of May 12 were not just a tragedy but also became a symbol of the people’s unwavering resolve and democratic struggle. He praised party workers, political activists, and the citizens of Karachi for demonstrating courage and resistance against fear and oppression on that day.
Bilawal added that the blood shed on the streets of Karachi stands as testimony to the people’s commitment to democracy, justice, and constitutional supremacy.
He said nations heal not by forgetting their wounds, but by remembering them with truth and dignity.
Reaffirming his party’s stance, the PPP chairman said the party would continue its struggle for a peaceful, democratic, and tolerant Pakistan where no citizen is silenced through violence and no city is held hostage by fear.
