Summary Pakistani envoy in Washington said Marka-e-Haq boosted Pakistan’s global standing, strengthened diplomacy, and highlighted unity, defence strength and economic priorities
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has said that Pakistan’s international standing and diplomatic credibility have significantly improved following the success of Marka-e-Haq.
In a special interview marking one year since Marka-e-Haq, the ambassador said that Pakistan has emerged as an important factor of stability in the region based on its defence, diplomatic and political strategy.
He said that after the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan immediately called for an investigation, while India allegedly made accusations without evidence and engaged in unlawful aggression. He stressed that Pakistan had repeatedly warned against any adventurism in a nuclear-armed region.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said that despite aggression, Pakistan demonstrated political, diplomatic and military maturity, which enhanced its national prestige at the international level. He added that Pakistan’s defence spending is much lower compared to India, but its real strength lies in defence capability, national resolve and public unity.
He praised former US President Donald Trump and his team for their role in promoting peace, saying their efforts were acknowledged globally. He said Pakistan presented its stance on facts and wisdom during Marka-e-Haq, which further strengthened its global image.

The ambassador said that in the age of global media and social networks, weaknesses in the Indian narrative have become evident worldwide. He added that Pakistan continues to demand evidence regarding the Pahalgam and Pulwama incidents, while the world is still waiting for proof.
Referring to the Indus Waters Treaty, he said there is no clause allowing its suspension, and using water as a weapon would violate international law. He warned that Pakistan would fully exercise its right to self-defence if its water or sovereignty is threatened.
He further noted that according to the Global Terrorism Index, Pakistan remains among the most affected countries by terrorism, but its role in global peace is being widely acknowledged, especially by the Pakistani diaspora in the United States.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh said the concept of “Bunyan-un-Marsoos” would only be fully achieved when Pakistan’s economy becomes as strong as its defence. He urged overseas Pakistanis to contribute to national development through unity and patriotism.
He added that strong and lasting relations between Pakistan, the United States and other countries are based on economic ties, highlighting the Pakistani-American community as an important bridge between the two nations.
The ambassador emphasized that converting Pakistan’s recent global recognition into productive economic partnerships is now a key priority.
