ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Security forces killed five terrorists linked to Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij during two separate intelligence-based operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 7 and 8, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operations were carried out in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts after reports regarding the presence of militants in the areas. Security officials said the engagements were part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

In the first operation, conducted in Tank District, security forces launched an intelligence-based raid targeting a militant hideout. Troops engaged the location after identifying the presence of armed militants, triggering an intense exchange of fire. Four militants belonging to Fitna-Al-Khwarij were killed during the operation.

Officials said the militants were effectively targeted during the firefight as troops moved to secure the area and clear the hideout.

A second intelligence-based operation was carried out in Dera Ismail Khan District, where security personnel engaged another militant during a separate exchange of fire. One militant was killed in the encounter.

Security sources stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. The individuals killed in the operations were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

Following the engagements, sanitisation operations were launched in the surrounding areas to ensure that no other militants remained hidden nearby. Security forces continued search and clearance efforts as part of wider counterterrorism measures across the province.

The military said Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to continuing operations at full pace against foreign-sponsored terrorism and militant networks operating inside the country.

The statement added that the nationwide campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam” would continue with the objective of dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing further attacks in affected regions.
