Summary Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said that solution Pakistan's political and economic crises lies in following Constitution and rule of law.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Former Prime Minister and Awaam Pakistan Party leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said that solution Pakistan's political and economic crises lies in following Constitution and rule of law.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that poverty level is continuously rising in the country. He added that the situation in Karachi is such that even drinking water is not available. He also said that national and provincial assemblies are not discussing the country’s issues, adding that today the country’s youth are going abroad.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi further said that Pakistan is playing positive role in US-Iran tension. He said that Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing US-Iran conflict which is a positive step.

Speaking on the occasion, former finance minister Miftah Ismail said that a poor person is paying sales tax on everything. According to government statistics, poverty in the country is steadily increasing, and it has become difficult for the poor to even run their household kitchens.

Miftah Ismail said that the salaried class is currently paying up to 40 percent in taxes, and the government should reduce the tax burden on salaried class.
