Summary The month will begin with a long weekend as Labour Day falls on a Friday.

(Web Desk) - May 2026 is expected to bring an extended period of holidays for people across Pakistan, with estimates suggesting up to 14–15 days off when public holidays and weekends are combined.

The month will begin with a long weekend as Labour Day falls on a Friday, followed by the regular weekend on May 2 and 3, giving both public and private sector employees three consecutive days off.

More holidays are anticipated towards the end of the month due to Eid al-Adha. If the moon is sighted on May 17, Eid is expected to fall between May 27 and 29, potentially creating a five-day break when combined with the weekend.

However, if the moon is not sighted and the month completes 30 days, Eid may be observed from May 28 to 30, with Sunday, May 31, extending the holiday period further.

There is also speculation that the government may announce an additional holiday on Monday, May 25. If so, it would link with the weekend of May 23 and 24, forming another extended break.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet on May 17 to sight the moon of Zil Hajj, after which the final dates for Eid will be officially confirmed.
