A miscellaneous petition was filed by the Judicial Activism Panel, arguing that petrol prices were raised by Rs26.77 per litre overnight.

The petition contended that the increase in petroleum prices would lead to a rise in inflation across the country.

It requested the court to declare the hike in petroleum prices null and void.

The government recently increased the prices of petroleum products significantly, raising both petrol and diesel by Rs26.77 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the new price of diesel has been set at Rs380.19 per litre, while petrol price has been increased to Rs393.35 per litre.
