Luqman challeneges senate elections in SC

Senior anchorperson of Dunya News Mubashir Luqman filed a petition in the Supreme Court today, urging it to halt the upcoming Senate elections.Luqman took the initiative under clause (III) of article 184, becausemore than 100 parliamentarians have either fake degrees or were elected on bogus electoral rolls as admitted by the Election Commission of Pakistan before the very court; therefore, the votes that would elect a senator were already bogus. The Supreme Court has recently directed the ECP not to hold by-elections on the basis of bogus or unverified voter lists.According to schedule, process of nomination forms will start by February 13 and polling will commence on March 2.
