President Zardari to address joint Parliamentary session tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, has summoned a joint session of Parliament tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. for his constitutional address.
The session has been convened under Articles 54(1) and 56(3) of the Constitution, which authorize the President to call Parliament for such meetings. According to the National Assembly Secretariat, this joint session is traditionally held at the beginning of each parliamentary year, and the President’s address fulfills a constitutional requirement. This will mark President Zardari’s ninth address to a joint session.
Preparations for the session are underway, with heightened security measures in place given the tense regional situation. The President is expected to comment on recent developments, including the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan, ongoing hostilities involving United States, Israel, and Iran, and retaliatory attacks in the Gulf region.
The President’s speech will also highlight the government’s two-year performance, national priorities, democratic consolidation, constitutional supremacy, sustainable economic development, regional and global affairs, and Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism, including efforts to eliminate externally-backed terrorist networks.
