COLOMBO (Dunya News) -  Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to enhance cooperation between their interior ministries, focusing on internal security, counter-terrorism, and anti-narcotics efforts.

Federal Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Home Affairs, where he was warmly received by Sri Lankan Minister for Home Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala.

During the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening mutual assistance in internal security, counter-terrorism, and drug control operations.

They also deliberated on forming a joint strategy against cybercrime and financial fraud networks.

The two countries agreed to enhance coordination to curb illegal immigration and narcotics trafficking.

Discussions were also held on launching joint training programs for police and paramilitary forces.

Mohsin Naqvi offered training opportunities to Sri Lankan police officers at Pakistan’s National Police Academy, stating that exchange programs would improve the professional capacity of law enforcement agencies in both nations.

He emphasized the need for closer cooperation in tackling cybercrime and financial crimes, adding that stronger collaboration would open new avenues of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
