ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over last week’s suicide attack at the Tarlai Imambargah that left dozens dead.

Speaking during his visit to Imambargah Khadija-tul-Kubra on Wednesday, the premier met with the families of the martyrs and victims affected by the attack.

He praised the bravery of young Auon Abbas, who attempted to stop the terrorist, saying the nation will remember his sacrifice in golden words. He added that the sinister plot to create divisions among Muslims had failed.

“Nothing can justify this extreme brutality,” he said, expressing that the entire nation mourns this tragic event. He condemned the attack as a deliberate attempt to sow discord and emphasised that the sacrifices of the martyrs will not be in vain.

Death toll in Tarlai mosque attack rises to 35

PM Shehbaz announced that Auon Abbas’ family will be awarded Rs10 million in recognition of his heroism, while the families of other martyrs will receive Rs5 million each.

During the visit, the premier was briefed by Islamabad’s IGP on the progress of investigations into the terrorist attack. He also held one-on-one meetings with the families of the victims and offered prayers for the departed souls.
