RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) -  Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid has called for justice in recent cases, urging that the guilty be punished and the innocent released.

Speaking to media outside the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court, Rashid highlighted that some individuals have received 40-year sentences.

He appealed to the Chief Justice to ensure that appeals are heard promptly.

Rashid also shared personal anguish, revealing that his nephew was handed a 40-year sentence.

He described the atmosphere in affected households as devastating, with families in mourning.

“Those who are guilty should be punished, and the innocent must be freed,” he emphasized.

Additionally, Rashid expressed concern over the hardships facing farmers, stating that thousands of carts and stalls have been destroyed and that the agricultural community is suffering greatly.

He prayed for government action on behalf of farmers.

Addressing broader social issues, Rashid noted that Rawalpindi has 60 educational institutions, yet rising inflation has left many colleges and universities empty.

He said that the number of teachers exceeds the number of students, reflecting the economic difficulties affecting education.
