PESHAWAR (Dunya News) — The suicide bomber who struck a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan has been identified, officials said on Saturday, after CCTV footage from the venue came to light.
Sources said the attacker was identified as a 21-year-old man named Abdul Rehman. The footage shows him entering the wedding area wrapped in a white shawl, blending into the crowd as celebrations were underway.
According to the video, the bomber left the main gathering during a tribal dance and walked toward a rear room where local elders were present. Moments after entering the room, he detonated the explosive device.
The blast caused the roof of the room to collapse, killing the attacker and five other people, authorities said. Several others were injured in the explosion.
The attack took place at the wedding of the nephew of local peace committee head Noor Alam Mehsud.
Police said an investigation is ongoing, and a case has been registered as security agencies work to connect the dots and prevent further incidents in the area.
